Contempt- Day 1

"Over the last several weeks, we've considered how the words, thoughts, and actions we store in our hearts are either god or evil. We've become aware of the behaviors, values, truths, and people we've placed in our contempt 'box'. Remember, anything or anyone we put into our contempt box no longer has the ability to be the blessing or source of good in our lives that God intended."

I've placed and kept a lot of things in my 'contempt box' over the years- things I don't agree with or understand, people who change, things that I don't want to face, and things/people that have hurt me. Thankfully for this series at church, I am learning how to recognize exactly what and who is in this box currently, and how I can work towards setting them free, and in turn, ultimately setting myself free of contempt.

I am me- not perfect, but seriously striving to be a person from which good things naturally flow. I am responsible for me, and at the end of the day- I want to know that I am doing what's right and what is true. I've learned more and more that people will always assume things. They will always judge you, and they will always criticize. I'm human- of course I do these things, but I'm taking steps in becoming free of them.

It is very true. We as humans naturally will judge but if we try to free ourselves of this and not carry contempt in our hearts we will be a person '' from which good things naturally flow'' and it will show through to those around you. We cannot control others, but we can only look at ourselves and control what we do and how we want to change, live and the decisions we make.
